Tennis Teaching Aids

Overview

tennis teaching aids : Overview :
In the world of sports, there are various drills, gadgets and different pieces of equipment that have been introduced to help in the development of that sport. In tennis, different teaching aids are available to help the beginning player learn the proper techniques of the sport. These aids will also help the player to develop the correct muscles, postures and stances to be a success in different facets of the game.

Wrist Trainers

Of the different teaching aids available in tennis, wrist and swing aids are among the most popular. These tools allow the player to develop the proper mechanics in their swing. One is a pad that is wrapped around the wrist to keep the wrist locked and in a proper volleying position. Another wrist aid, sometimes called the "Volley Doctor," wraps around both the wrist and the handle of the racket. This aid keeps the racket at a constant angle to the arm, making for a consistent swing.

Accuracy Aids

Accuracy aids are another popular aid in tennis training techniques. One such aid is attached to the top of the net and provides two circular targets for the player to hit the ball through. The targets allow the player to develop a more accurate and more consistent stroke. Providing for certain spots over the net, these tools will help a player hit the right spot on the other side of the court.

Doubles Aids

Doubles aids, with two tennis players on one team, are a different kind of training aid for a different area of the game. Helping to enforce the teamwork essential to playing doubles, these trainers include ropes that are attached to each player by the waist. The ropes force the players to play in unison, coordinating movements and volleys.

Knee Trainers

Knee trainers in tennis help to develop the leg muscles essential for quick movements and low lateral attacks at the ball. These knee trainers allow the ankle to be attached to hip with a rope. With the rope stretched out as the knees are slightly bent in an active position, the rope will either snap or not allow the player to straighten into an unready or improper standing position. These trainers enforce the ready position necessary to return a serve or volley.

Swing Trainers

Swing trainers, such as the popular Hit-A-Way system, allow the player to utilize systems like those used for baseball or softball swings. With a ball on a rotating machine, the player hits the ball, and, depending on the quality or consistency of the swing, the ball spins around the machine in a revolution and returns to the player for another hit. These trainers encourage proper swings and a proper approach at the ball.
