About the Wilson H5 Tennis Racket

Overview

The H5 tennis racket manufactured by Wilson Sporting Goods Company is a recreational-grade, adult-size racket also known as the Hammer 5. It is identified by Wilson as an even blend of control and power and an ideal choice for those players with a medium-paced swing.

Racquet Sizes

The H5 is available in two head sizes: the mid-plus, with a 102-square-inch head, and the oversize, at 113 square inches. It is only available in a single grip size of 4 1/2 inches. The H5 racquet is 27 1/2 inches long and weighs 9 ounces in the midplus size and 10 ounces in the oversize model in its strung state.

Ideal User

The Wilson H5 is targeted to recreational players with medium to fast swings who are seeking a powerful racket that is good for ground strokes and passing shots. The H5 is head-heavy.

Materials

Wilson's H5 is constructed of 20 percent of their proprietary Hyper Carbon for stiffening the racket and 80 percent graphite materials for strength, durability and lightness.

Stringing

Wilson recommends a string tension of 55 to 65 pounds in the H5.

Pricing & Where to Buy

As the H5's manufacture has been discontinued, it can be found at some outlets at a reduced price. This model is still available at sports-equipment retailers, racket dealers and online specialty retailers. It can also be found new or used in secondary marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay.
