One of the worst things anyone trying to raise funds can do is limit the amount of revenue coming in to the organization or charity. This is especially true if you are having a golf tournament fundraiser. Golf tournaments usually last at least one full day, sometimes lasting an entire weekend or a few weekends. Plus, those having the fundraiser have an entire golf course of space that can be used to make money. Take advantage of all that time and space to raise as much as possible.
Tables of Wares
Set up several tables to sell additional items. T-shirts, hats and golf supplies work well. Have these items with the organization or charity's name and logo on them. Consider having drinks and food items, such as cookies, popcorn, snow cones and the like available. Check local agencies concerning this, though--some areas may require a food handlers license.
Balloon Release
Balloon releases are a lot of fun, especially for the youngsters. Sell balloons that have the organization or charity's name and telephone number printed on an attached card, along with a number to identify the owner of the balloon. Whoever finds the balloon can call and let the organization know where it was found. The owner of the balloon that travels the greatest distance wins a prize.
Carnival Games
Set up carnival games for those attending to play. Dart throws, "the duck game," penny tosses and the like are fun to play for all ages. Prizes can be small stuffed animals and gift certificates. Many business may be willing to donate these items. Try using pens, T-shirts and other items that has the name and logo on them as prizes for these carnival games.
Raffles
Sell raffle tickets both in advance and at the golf tournament. Items that people will be interested in will vary, so have many different things available to win. Gift certificates for free oil changes, dinner at a local restaurants and gas cards work well. Handmade items such as quilts and afghans are also popular. Businesses and individuals are usually willing to donate items when they know they are going to a good cause.
