Football TipsBeing good at sports takes more than just natural talent and ability. To be a good player, there are many goals that need to be set, along with dedication and passion for the sport. Creating a set schedule for workouts, watching calorie intake and learning to collaborate effectively are just some of the things that need to be ironed before it is possible to be an effective team player.
Eat a Healthy Diet
This is one of the main building blocks of being a player. The old adage, "you are what you eat" is important to remember here. Eat a diet based on fruits, vegetables, and lean meats or soy-based products. Try to eat organics when possible, because those foods don't usually contain any added preservatives, coloring or chemicals. This ensures that your body is as healthy as possible.
Stay in Shape
During seasonal or school breaks, it is important to still stay in shape, even though you may not have practice during those times. Maintaining a workout schedule will keep your fitness level high and it will be easier to begin practice again after the break is over.
Learn Proper Teamwork
This includes interpersonal skills such as collaboration, teamwork, cooperation and negotiation. Respect teammates and treat them how you would like to be treated. Don't squabble and instead focus on the practice or game at hand. Save any conflicts for off the field after both parties have had time to cool off. Fighting with teammates instead of working together will not help anyone, least of all the team as a whole.
Learn from your teammates and respect their advice and feedback, as well as the coaches'. Being a player means learning how to work well in a team.
Give 100 Percent in Team Practice
While in practice, stay focused at the task at hand. Do your best and remember that each practice is one workout closer to the next game and victory.
Practice Alone
To be a fully-functioning member of your team, make sure you set aside time to practice in areas that need to be improved. These may include passing, tackling or speed. Do drills alone to improve for the next team practice and game.
